Dr. Tamara Pizzoli, born Tamara McPherson, is a native of Kileen, Texas. She graduated from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, with a Bachelor of Arts/Psychology and Education Degree in 2002, from Texas A&M University-Commerce with a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education in 2003, and her Doctorate of Education in 2007. Dr. Pizzoli made a permanent move to Rome, Italy in September of 2007. In 2013, she opened The English Schoolhouse, an English language school primarily for kids in Rome. In the following years, The English Schoolhouse has expanded into a boutique publishing house through which eight books and counting have been published. The first published title, The Ghanian Goldilocks, is award-winning, holding a silver eLit Award for Multicultural Excellence.
Dr. Pizzoli is also the owner and executive producer of Pizzoli Media, a platform that focuses on cultured creative content. Projects through Pizzoli Media include the documentary In Nero: Black Girls in Rome, Black Girls in Rome the web series, and Friends in Roma Antica.
A self-described creative, Tamara explores and curates all things artistic through her online art gallery, The Nef Gallery. She has worked closely with master Italian painter Elena Tommasi Ferroni as well as illustrators for her books such as Phil Howell and Federico Fabiani.
A mom of three beautiful sons, Tamara spends her time between Rome, the states, and her imagination.
